Giant Leaf Insect Brooch

The Giant Malaysian Leaf insect, also known as Phyllium giganteum, is a master of camouflage.  Its flattened body and leaf-life appearance allow it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings, making it nearly invisible to predators.  Despite its size, reaching up to 12 cm in length, it is a gentle herbivore that feeds on leaves.  Interestingly, this insect lacks wings and cannot fly, but it can jump a distance of up to 30 cm to escape danger.
